That is a distinct possibility, BetaBatt Inc. make tiny little power supplies, just 10 microns by 2,5 micron. They use this 'smart-dust' in Oil Wells. The tiny sensors have to be small enough to flow through porous rock,. With a ten micron cube sensor, you get a billion to the cubic centimeter. or a million-billion to the cubic meter. How many suspended sensors/smart dust modules could you fit inside a large jet fuel tank? ( probably in a separate tank.) The mind boggles!
