TDA2822M Dual Low Power Amplifier
(2x) LM3916
(2x) Altoids mint tins bolted together
This is a little pocket (more like desk top) headphone amplifier that is also a stereo VU meter. Schematics are basically straight from the datasheets of both ICs, put together.
In the first dB measurement seen in the video, straight from the tape deck, the readings are somewhere just over 80.
In the second dB measurement, using the headphone amplifier, the readings are just over 100 dB..
The unit can probably get about 20-30 dB louder, using those headphones depending on the configuration of the input and volume control used. normally, volume control is done on the media player itself, but the tape deck used in the video does not have one on the headphone jack, so an in-line volume control was placed on the cable connecting to the input of the unit and preset to a level that would provide a good display for use in this video.
feel free to post any comments or questions, I will try and get back to you when I can.
