Marco Mazzini plays Alex Shapiro's "Deep" (contrabass clarinet)

I received this wonderful piece from composer Alex Shapiro ( http://www.alexshapiro.org ). Its originally written for contrabassoon, but lucky for me, she adapted "Deep" for contrabass clarinet - and with her permission, I made this video to share it with all of you.

This version has never been performed in public, so this is kind of a "YouTube world premiere" of Deep for contrabass clarinet & electronics.

Thanks to Alex for her support and wonderful music!

The audio is still a bit lower than I expected...so don't forget to add good volume!

OMG, tell me you have a neckstrap or something on. Your tone quality is impressive, I have only the vaguest idea of how hard it is to maintain a nice sound with contralto. A m a z i n g.

Actually yes, I do have a neck-strap (the ones they hold from your back). Thanks for your nice words, I enjoy very much playing the contrabass clarinet (if you are curious, check my video "Himno al sol", also with contrabass clarinet).

That was wonderful! You have amazing control and tone over the Contrabass. This is easily the best Contrabass video on Youtube. I'm currently playing a Bb Bass Clarinet in my high school's band, and am hopefully going to play Contrabass next year. Hopefully I can get just as good a tone out of it is you...with practice of course =)

wow what beautiful tone you have. i have to disagree with everyone else, i can hear the clarinet perfectly fine even with the added music in the background. the music is a little scary in a good way.
