Chapter 24

"STOP!" Demi screamed, the pain over powering her mouth. Her dad stared at her stunned.

"What did you just say to me?" He asked. Demi realized what she'd done and she felt sick, thinking of what he was going to do.

"I-I'm s-sorry." She whimpered. He slapped her, throwing her to the floor.

"You bitch! You whore! You do not get to talk to me however you feel like it!" He screamed. He kicked her in the side, feeling pride take over as he heard her yelp. "You were a mistake! You shouldn't exist!" He hollered again.

Demi let the tears fall down her face, "I've been bruised and I've been broken...can't believe that I put up with all this...pain." She whispered to herself.

"My god!" Joe yelled, chucking his book on the floor. "get out of my fucking head!" He yelled. He couldn't seem to get Demi out of his mind. Not just Demi. But the dream! It's been haunting him since the night he'd had it. Thank God no one was home or else they would hear him and be all up in his business.

He closed his eyes, seeing Demi being sucked into the black abyss. "UGH!" He grabbed his pillow and threw it across the room. He didn't understand why Demi did that all of a sudden. Something had to be wrong. And why did he have that dream? Why WAS he having those dreams? Could they mean something? Nah, that's corny.

But, still, the scene of her being dragged into the blackness played in his mind. "Help me!" Those words, that voice, echoed in his head. He cringed hearing the scared edge to her voice. Why was she so scared? What did she need to be saved from? Well, the black abyss of course, but who was below it?

'If it's bothering you that much, why don't you just confront her?' He remembered Miley saying that at the end of the day. So that's exactly what he's gonna do. He's going to confront Demi. Right now.

Miley heard the door knock and she answered it. "Nicholas." She smirked. He rolled his eyes, pecking her on the lips. She smiled at him.

"I brought...Transformers 1, When a Stranger Calls, and Paranoid Park." Nick said to Miley. Miley thought for a moment.

"When a Stranger Calls," She said.

"You sure?" He asked as she nodded.

"Yep, if I get scared I have you." She said, as he chuckled. "And...if YOU get scared you have me," She smiled.

"Pfft. I will not be scared." He said, popping the movie in.

"Wait." She said as he looked at her. "Did Joe find out about.....us?" She asked as he shook her head. She nodded.

"Why are we keeping this a secret again?" He asked. She shrugged.

"It was your idea." She said as he nodded.

"Right." He said. She looked at him, awaiting an answer. He sighed. "Joe isn't particularly happy with you. He thinks your cruel to Demi."

"She was to me." Miley muttered. Nick went to defend Demi but shook it off and began watching the movie with Miley.
