The collar came with the lens but the circular plate came with the tripod. I got the legs and tripod head together in a combo. I can't remember exactly how much it cost but it was a good deal as I remember it

@SqueeG19 I'm not sure of the exact model but the head is made by Slik. It came packaged with the tripod. I don't see any reason to upgrade to a better one because this one is amazing

How big is the quick release plate (for the camera)? I purchased a Vanguard233AP and it's a POS. The quick release plate is so small it will not secure the camera (Nikon D100), as tight as I can get it the camera still has a tendency to rotate. Also there is play in the quick release to tripod fitting so night shots are a waste of time with the 233AP.
