*couple days later*
*door bell rings, . . .knock*
Demi: *opens the door a little bit* hello? Joe? *no answer* . .Joe? *walks in closing the door slowly behind her* hello? Anyone home? *pokes her head into the kitchen* hello?. . *walks into the living room* jo- *widen eyes* Joe! *runs up to him passed out on the floor putting his head on her lap looking around the room seeing a lot of beer bottles lying around and lets out a sigh* Joe. . . Why are you doing this to yourself?
*later that day*
Joe: *opens his eyes slowly groaning, sitting up slowly looking around once again groaning before standing up holding onto the couch for support* what the. . ? *slowly walks to the kitchen looking around confused*
Demi: *turns around with a spoon in her hand* hey there sleepy head.
Joe: *confused looks at her* what are you doing here?
Demi: came over to bring Jake's homework. He missed school today, and thought I'd catch him up on what were doing.
Joe: *looks at her concern* he wasn't at school?. . Why?
Demi: *shrugs* aren't you supposed to know the answer to that?
Joe: *nods* excuse me. . *walks into the living room taking out his phone and dials a number*
Denise: *answers* hello?
Joe: why wasn't jake at school?
Denise: . . .he had a fever last night. He's doing better now tho.
Joe: AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME??
Denise: joe, he's fine now. . .don't worry
Joe: he's my son, and you kept this away from me??
Denise: joe, honey, your worrying for no reason
Joe: THAT'S NOT THE POINT!
Demi: *slowly leans her ear out of the kitchen can't helping but listening to the conversation*
Joe: you know what?? WHATEVER!. . I GIVE UP! *hangs up and takes a huge breath*
Demi: *runs back to the counter stirring the coffee*
Joe: *walks back in* so, you brought his homework, you said?
Demi: *nods, it's on the table*
Joe: . . How long have you been here?
Demi: for about 2 hours
Joe:. . .why? *gives her a stare*
Demi: because you were passed out on the floor when I walked in, so I thought since you were out, and the door as open, anyone could've came in,. . . but here *hands him a cup* here's coffee. . . It's good for hangovers
Joe: *takes it* thanks. . And I'm sorry about that, I didn't know anyone would be coming over
Demi: *nods* where's jake?
Joe: *looks down staring at his coffee not answering*
Demi: . . . Sorry, I didn't mean to butt in, I jus-
Joe: he's staying with my mom. . .
Demi: oh. . *nods* that must be fun
Joe: *shakes his head* it's not. .
Demi: oh. . .
Joe: *looks at her* promise you won't tell anyone?
Demi: *nods* promise
Joe: she won't let Jake live with me anymore
Demi: what?! *looks at him*
Joe: *nods* not until I get help
Demi: what are you waiting for?
Joe: *shakes his head* I can't. .
Demi: *sits down* what kind of help? I can help
Joe: I don't know what kind of help I want
Demi: you need to get your anger out. . . I dunno about you but my brother once took boxing classes, it made him release the stress.
Joe: *shakes his head* all I want is Jake to come back home.
Demi: than you have to prove it to your mom that you can do this and will take care of jake
Joe: *a tear falls down his cheek* once I get jake back, were getting as far away as possible. . .*shakes his head* no more problems,
Demi: but is the answer really to run away from all of it? Or face it?
Joe: *shrugs* at this time, running sounds the best way
