So what paper are you using? I just bought some Faber PITT pens and I can't get a neat line with my normal rough paper, but when I use a smoother paper the ink seems to overwhelm the surface and it gets far too dark. Tips?

Just regular copy paper. It takes a lot of practice to get line variation. I still have to work on it.
