The sun sets in St. Petersburg overlooking Peter & Paul Fortress. I would have filmed the Neva bridges opening had my camera not been stolen. For more on the bridges go to

  • what is the difference between white nighs and midnight sun ?

  • Midnight sun refers to sun at midnight and throughout the night which only happens north of the arctic circle.

White nights refer to daylight all night but without the sun.

  • dudes I originated from that city but whats about that fountaines... I never saw that ones... this are must be something around the marine museum... and the zoo must be ca . 3.5 kilometers farther north from THAT direction... but I never saw that fountains

The water fountain show is spectacular and it happens every evening. Definitely a highlight of St. Petersburg.

  • @InYourPocketGuides the fountains are only during the "Alye Parusa" event (red sails) a celebration of the white nights at summer.

  • Cities like New York, Los Angeles, London or Paris are nice but there is no city that can compete with St. Petersburg. The history, soul and spirit is close to none. Extraordinary, Unique, Beautiful, Charming, Ancient, Artistic, Magical....that is just some of the words that come to mind off the top of my head. Those who live in St. Petersburg are very lucky to be there. Warm Greetings to all Russian brothers! -With love from Bulgaria. :D

  • they call it the venice of the north.
