Why couldn't you run your Asterisk, trixbox, elasix install from a powerful computer with a VM running? Yes, you could... and you'd learn a lot about computing and networks along the way... :)

  • PBX uses the processor clock, in a VM environment it wouldn't be stable. It's not a resource issue.

  • I don't think it's a resouce issue .. My understanding is that the PBX uses the processor clock for timings and this isn't reliable in a VM environment. This is something the providers of PBXs are working to solve.. I understand that Avaya have recently done it..
