A nefarious criminal in life, a prisoner known only by the name 'Big Red' worked on the chain-gang of the old Floyd County Prison on Blacks Bluff Road. After his death, many suspect that Big Red's spirit remained in captivity to haunt the guards and fellow inmates he had walked amongst for years. Since the prison was torn down in Jan. 2007, the only evidence that remains of 'Big Red' is a short-length documentary produced by Brian & Laurence Avenet-Bradley as an extra feature for their feature-length film Dark Remains, much of which was filmed in the old Floyd County Prison. We have obtained permission from the Avenet-Bradley's to make an excerpt from that documentary accessible here for Rome's 175th anniversary. For more information on the film, including how you may purchase a copy, visit www.darkremains.com.
