  • Hi rpeek! Interesting system! So your just leveling? Or do you plan to raise the foundation wall for a future finished basement?

  • @pwarren1010 Just leveling for now, but I do plan to dig out the basement one day.. No time soon though..

  • They make jacking posts that have a threaded part at the top you turn to jack up houses......but your way is probably better because the commercial ones don't like to raise heavy things well.....and a house is certainly heavy ! LOL

  • @farmall1938 Yea, I've got some of those threaded posts and I use them once I get it to about the right height because I don't have to move them much after that, but if I do I can give 'em a little twist.. Wouldn't want to pick up a house with 'em, not a house as heavy as mine, but they work well in some places..

  • The best thing is to take your time and run upstairs and check your work. A bowling ball works good on really bad floors.

  • @231flash Ain't you afeered of breakin' the furniture bowlin' in the house? Just jokin....

  • @golgothagarage House was built in 1842. Post and beam, with pins. Yea, it shifts. Go slow and it all goes back to where it was.. It's a beautiful thing..

  • @Busia1949 Oops.. Yea, and I just had that bowl of ice cream.. hahahaha

  • I'm thinking if the house was built with level floors and sagged over time, when you start jacking it up you are only putting everything back where it once was. But it is important to use the go slow approach so that things can settle back into place. Good job Rich
