  • I never want to ever hear that question again . , "do YT atheists do any good?" We are now armed with such clarity . there is no reason to sit quietly by.

Be sure to always speak up and remind them just how fucked up they are.

  • @itsasin1969: On 9/11 I had an experience that changed my self assessment of my own worth. When the building fell so close the debris was only seconds away (I was on the east end of John Street working in an office building that barely escaped with no visible damage), instead of panicking, I lost all fear and ran to see if there was anything I could do to help. I ended up helping 20 or so folks out of NY that day. And I found I felt... satisfied. That my existance was worth it. I'm an Atheist.

  • Gods ways are not mans ways. And this man does not have a grasp on who God is. He can forgive, cleanse, and punish because He is the creater of all. Am I to believe that morality is decided by this man or am I to belive that the standards are set by God the ultimate good.

  • @SirWinston

morals: take the golden rule. its timeless. take the evolution of our species. reciprocity evolved to survive. take humes suggestion that perhaps sometimes logic is subject to the passions...ie you see an adult beating up a kid....then you react to it (your passions get aroused)...then your logic is affected, i must act on this situaation. take kants categorical imperative. dude theres so many theories of morality what makes you so sure 'god did it' is any better?

  • how can you say you have no say in it as you speak against it?

  • Bravo! Mr. Hitchens at his best!

  • ehh who gives a shit...

  • "The sins of the Fathers are visited upon the children" serves no useful purpose beyond the smug satisfaction and self rightousness of those proclaiming this by way of tortuting the parents with the knowledge their innocent children would be punished for sins they, the parents, committed.

  • @theheinzification: There you go :) You stated the case nicely :)

  • @RyuDarragh you missunderstood me. im so sorry, i probably didnt make it clear. there is nothing wrong with what you wrote, but with what you wrote about. i mean the bible and all the various branches of believes rooting in it. its basically a collection of errors and failures and led so much harm.

i do agree with your points, also those about not needing a god or invoking a deity.

  • @theheinzification: Wrong? With what? Having a personal epiphany that had nothing to do with God or finding one can do what is needed without invoking a deity of any kind? Or, perhaps, you think I'm lying. In that case, that's your problem, not mine.

  • @RyuDarragh well, there is so much wrong, one doenst know where to start.
