Good ad, Kerry lost by 3% mainly due to his flipflopping and the residual patriotic upsurge from 9/11, which had been decreased since the Iraq war started the year previous.

This was the best the Kerry campaign could do. This is why the democrats lost in 04, because there was no attack on the worst president in the history of the US.
