What do you get when you mix a Singer-songwriter and a Poetess on You Tube?

Inspired by my poem 'Heart Talk', Mel wrote some music to create the song 'Our Hearts' (lyrics below, taken mainly from my original poem).

OUR HEARTS

Our voices are silent, strangled
Our lives have become estranged
But in the stillness and the quiet moments, it seems
Your heart still calls my heart's name

Driving along, calm and at peace
I get this uneasy feeling
It happens when I'm out, living my life
Now I see that though we are silent
Our hearts still talk

I didn't think it was possible
I guess I really didn't know
That amidst the wreckage of that ending
Somehow those two hearts would still glow

Everything has been done
To well and truly move on
Other hearts knock at our doors
But there's a clear conversation going on
It seems it can't be stopped
Between my heart and yours

I raise my eyes to the sky
I see the sun breaking through
I pray for peace
For me and for you

The error that you made
Left our hearts still restless and entwined
It seems they don't feel the thoughts
That you keep there in your mind

They don't feel the fear
That you allowed to win
They have some things that need to be said
And they'll never give in

And in the quiet moments
By day and by night
I hear our hearts talking
Trying to say 'goodbye'
