3's so called "Broadband" via National Broadband Scheme - Ireland

Ireland's National Broadband Scheme provider is '3' (Hutchison 3G Ireland Ltd)
To great fanfare the broadband service was recently turned on in my locality. I live 1.2 miles from the mast, and have direct line of sight. It is a sparsely populated rural area. I use the Huawei E180 modem.

"...The mobile wireless broadband service (HSPA), will have a minimum download speed of 1.2mbps, a minimum upload speed of 200kpbs, a maximum contention ratio of 36:1, a latency of 120 milliseconds ..."

This video show the actual appalling level of service.
IMO Minister Eamon Ryan (http://www.dcenr.gov.ie/) should be ashamed of himself for awarding the NBS to this company that has such a bad track record of service in Ireland.

ive used both eircom's 7mb fixed line, and now have 3broadband, they both get the same kind of speeds, my wireless modem is actually out performing the fixed line most days, getting round 3-4mb download and 1.5 upload, i'm very happy with it. and would say it will only get better as the technology advances

Are you still using the service - if yes, has it improved? Network penetration was/is low in some parts of the country, unfortunately for the consumers, "service limitations" mean they can't really do much about it. You can ask for your account to be closed once the tech support confirms the lesser speeds you getting. :)

In my country we used to gather 5-6 neighbours, gather 500 euros and buy a optic fiber and share it over lan.If you hear huawei, run.Britsh are cocksuckers they brought this shit in Europe.I run when i hear vodafone and huawei.

i get 3m/s and i live in the middle of nowhere in co longford :) im happy but the customer care is shite.. the speeds there on this video is almost as bad as dial up!!
