  • Alas, Mickey died in 1987 and we have no other video of Mickey playing other than what is on this video! Also we have no proper audio recordings of Mickey either, though we have a lot of rough recordings of sessions in pubs.

i am sure there are video recordings of Mickey out there, taken by visiters/tourists!

It would be great to have some of them!

    Johnny

  • Good song here and music great too. Not sure if the man in vid is playing ?

Is the song about drugs and alcohol addiction ?

    Norfolk female 59

  • I'm sort of miming to the audio recording!

  • @josparkes : search for RTE Documentary On One "No Cure For Mickey Finn" - very interesting.

  • Thank you for this. I've traveled to Ireland twice and been to the Crane in Galway and just recently happened upon a documentary on RTE (podcast) here in California "No Cure For Mickey Finn" and it was so interesting and moving that I searched the internet trying to find more info on him. I enjoyed watching this, sad as it is. Are there any video/audio recordings of his playing?

  • great song bout a crazy yime in galway...i used to watch these guys as a kid..

  • grear song johnny, wonderfull tribute to your brother,

    john folan, claddagh

  • Very moving Johnny.

  • Good on ya Johnny the way it was long ago now Mel

  • Johnny, that is a deep tribute to your brother Mickey's music and pain. I listened to his gift many times in Galway in those strange times.

  • Fabulous, Johnnie! You've done him proud. So many other faces I recognise from that weird and wonderful era . . . Lyrics are great, honest, just like it was. Corky's in there, too, and Patsy Flood, I am almost certain. God bless and let's not forget all the good - Fred Johnston

  • Great stuff, Johnny.
