The sweet tinkling of the vibraphone used in the instrumental, Fluorescent Laces, helps the piece create a beautiful calming melody that brings to mind images of nature, serenity and peace. The impressionist depiction of a young boy staring out over the lake surrounded by small colourful flowers accomplishes the same sense of tranquillity. The staccato notes of the vibraphone, like blotches of brightness and colour in the song, appear reminiscent of the short, thick strokes that create the blotches of painted flowers. These can be further linked to all the colourful pieces placed together to create the chandelier designed by Stuart Haygarth. Furthermore, the composition of the chandelier (many pieces combined to create a whole) mimics that of the painting and song where elements, instruments or colours combine to create a beautiful work of art. It then seems natural to use a colour that is bright but that emulates relaxation, nature and harmony and thus we decided upon a pastel green colour. Though not a prominent colour in the painting or chandelier, the pastel green reflects serenity, nature and balance as well the other three components.
