In an inspired conversation several years ago, two IH San Diego teachers (Jim W & Kadie G) struck on the idea of modifying the popular extreme competition TV game show 'Fear Factor' into a fun and memorable language learning consolidation activity.
And for the past couple of years, several times a year, we have been hosting this crazy activity. Students and teachers bring in 'specialty' foods from around the world. And then, in the interest of language education, curiosity, science and pure bragging rights we stage a 'sampling'.
This video shows what happened one rainy day in May 2008 as students taste, describe and write about exotic foods. Everyone involved had a hoot.
