Tortoises, composed by C. Saint-Saëns, is another piece that suits the bass ocarina very well. This movement is making fun of a famous melody written by another composer. Can you tell what this tune is?

I play on the Enigma Bass Ocarina from STL Ocarina. You can find more information about this ocarina at:

If you like to learn this piece, you'll find sheet music here:

  • Well strictly speaking it's a very much slowed down version of the Dance of the Blessed Spirits from "Orpheus in the Underworld" by Offenbach, but it is commonly called the can-can.

  • This one's really nice. :]

  • That's huge!

  • Sorry! It IS the CaCan! D'oh!

  • Its a parody of the French National Anthem, NOT the Can-Can

  • wow, thats a lot prettier than the can-can. Interesting piece.

  • thats the can-can?

  • Haha, did he really parody the can-can? Quite a nice tune on the bass ocarina :)
