The final installment of the Steamer Trunk series. I apply the faux walnut straps, apply the water-based finish using my HVLP turbine, and install the tansu hardware. All in all, this was a great project that really reinforces simple frame and panel construction. At the end of the video, I even have a little update on Duanes progress on his trunks. Things are coming along nicely. Best of luck to you Duane!

  • Hey, great video ... I want to start working on this ... you said there was a link to the plans on here? I can't find it ... Im very newbie when it comes to youtube. Thanks

  • @reyoflightstudios I just put the link in the description above. There will always be more information about each video if you watch them directly on our site. YouTube limits our ability to post helpful links and things you might want to know about.

  • Thanks for showing how you repair and fine tune your pieces! Those are the secrets many leave out and what separates you from the rest. I've learned a ton by watching your vids and will continue to keep tabs on your channel. One final note: what a kind gesture to stop what you were doing to help Duane learn how to make his piece. All the best.

  • @Ismlor Thanks man. Appreciate the kind words!

  • When spraying did you thin the varnish down or did you just use it straight up?

  • Can't recall exactly, but I do sometimes thin, but no more than 10% with water-based materials.

    Hey thanks

  • i just stumbled upon these trunk vids but about ten years ago my sister bought these plans intending for our dad to make her one witch 4 years later he did. and me being the Younger brother want one and was promptly told build your own which a year ago i did. how ever i raised the box up 2 inches and made all the rails and straps out of walnut and the panels and tray of maple and with the curved lid the piece looks amazing.

  • Thanks! There are quite a few projects out there that are good for beginners and buying a set of plans is a pretty good idea. But you can check out your Contemporary Clock, Magazine Rack, Cutting Board, and Pencil Holder videos for some relatively simple projects.
