Mark Martin was leading the race and thought he had it won, and out of nowhere came Kevin Harvick. As the field comes off of turn 4, Kyle Busch gets loose and tags Matt Kenseth and several cars are involved including Jeff Gordon, David Stremme, Greg Biffle, David Gilliland, Sterling Marlin, Casey Mears, Juan Pablo Montoya, and Clint Bowyer who gets upside down and came across the line in 18th. And at the same time, Harvick beats Martin by inches.
Mike Joy, Larry McReynolds, and Darrell Waltrip with the call.

The Daytona 500 is the superbowl of stockcar racing. Being that close to the finish, I am glad tat they allowed Kevin and Mark to fight it out to the end. 2 great drivers competing for victory. It wouldn't have seemed to be a very full filling race if they had ended it 400 yards (less than 4 seconds) from the checkered flag. I am a fan of both drivers, and I am glad that Kevin won. No driver should have victory taken away from them, especially when they had a legitimate shot at winning.
