LABELS ARE SUPPOSE TO MAKE THINGS EASIER RIGHT? THEN WHY DO THEY GET SO CONFUSING WHEN IT COMES TO LABELING PEOPLE......MAYBE IM NOT AS OK WITH LABELS AS I THOUGHT I WAS OR JUST PLAIN CONFUSED.
It's not labels I find people have a problem with, it's rules they attach to those labels, and applying labels to people instead of respecting their self identity, even if that means a lack of some "set" identity in some aspects. In stark contrast to prettyposeur, I choose to label because it's the best way to differentiate and it's the best way to define and re-define. In the LGBT community, there is no norm so being different is so multi-faceted and its a breeding ground for confusion.
I will do a video response to this in a while, I need to think it out and find the time....and yes, it's MADE way more confusing than it is. Everything in this world has a descriptive label of some kind, look around, not just objects but people too...it's how we DISTINGUISH between things. Like your corn and peas example....how do you know what kind of peas they are? snow peas? green peas? black eyed peas? We use descriptive monikers for lots of things....more to come!
You are so right. This is what I've ben trying to say. Sexuality is on a continuum. There are no boxes. People are people. And all people have their own unique set of traits, preferences, orientations, genders, sexes, temperaments.
People choose to label, because they refuse to look outside of themselves to identify with people who are different from themselves. People choose to categorize or label a person because it takes less effort than actually getting to know that person as an individual.
