Bob Newhart, the beloved "everyman" who has been honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, tests his mettle in "The Challenge." In it, he will attempt to do "what many people think is one of the most difficult tasks in modern society" – opening a new DVD.

Like all challenges worthy of a man of Bob's stature, this one tests his patience, his ingenuity, and his character. And like all heroic figures, he uses every weapon at his disposal – even risking injury.

Is Bob up to this task? Will he meet the challenge? Will he slay the dragon that is the wretched DVD packaging?

To get the answers to those questions, you'll have to watch
THE CHALLENGE.

  • Bob Newhart opening a DVD of "Barefoot in the Park".

I think it would go a little something like this...

  • "It's the Communist!" ;-)

That's from the movie, "Cold Turkey", where Newhart played a public relations man for a tobacco company.

A right-wing organization in the fictional town of Eagle Rock, IA patrolled to keep tobacco out of that town in the movie, and an old lady in that group kept calling Newhart's character a Communist.
