This film is pieced together from reference footage taken at a community planning session for the Thurgood Marshall Center's heritage museum. Historians Kathryn Smith and Marya McQuirter lead the meeting during which residents and former residents of the Shaw neighborhood shared information and memories, and began to explore the very nature and value of their undertaking.
The meeting ran for one and a half hours and contributed to the development of the history exhibits at the Thurgood Marshall Center, and a comprehensive survey of the Shaw neighborhood's historical resources.
