Shame that Monsieur Branagh did succumb to this 19th century nonsense; had he continued the style and costumes used for his most brilliant adaptation of Henry V this movie would have been brilliant as well but so it does lose some charm and vigour; but apart from the BBC version with Monsieur Jacobi as Hamlet it is so far the best adaptation of Hamlet for the cinema, though the differences between the stage and the screen are very little; apart from the greater ability to focus the audience.
