While diving at Catalina Island I came across a large group of Kelp Bass (also called Calico Bass) hanging around this hole. They kept peering into it over and over. When I swam closer and looked in I found this Octopus munching away on an anchovy or sardine.
I recorded him for a while and eventually he spit out the fish at me and just sat there in his hole. When I pulled away the bass swooped in and made quick work of the leftovers.
the calico seem under nourished , they need to go ambush some real food and quit hanging out in school.

It's interesting you mentioned that. This video was taken at Casino Point at Catalina which is a very popular dive spot with tons of divers in the water every day. Divers bring along food for the fish so the Calicos here like to hang around divers to get fed an easy meal. That's why these guys were just sitting there staring at me the whole time.
