Gradius Gaiden Doubleplay - Stage 3 One Miss

Gradius Gaiden Loop 1 Stage 3 played on "Hardest" difficulty with myself controlling both ships simultaneously. I suffer 1 death in this run.

This game is getting really intense now! It feels like I'm reaching the limits of how much I can do with one brain, and this is only the 3rd stage!

The attack pattern that killed me is the kind of attack pattern that's incredibly hard to dodge with 2 ships simultaneously (unless you overlap them into 1 ship, but even then controlling them is still a challenge). I think it will take me quite a bit of practice before I can dodge something like that consistently with 2 ships.

I realized the Disruptor laser is really useful against bosses. I'll try to get it every time I have to face a boss, from now on.

I learned that it's possible to die to terrain obstacles despite the Guard shield:
1. you can still die by getting smooshed between a moving rock and a hard place (or several moving rocks); and
2. when the "UFO" launches those small crystals, you can still die by sitting in the exact spot where the rock enters the foreground.

The Guard was indispensible for this level. Unfortunately, it's of little use against the boss (and probably against bosses in general).
