Gator at my apartment

So here's the story.
On August 23rd I came home from work to find an 8ft alligator next to my apartment, resting at the end of the walkway. I've been around alligators all my life but this guy was so docile. I went up to him to try and scare him off before anyone else saw him. He just looked at me and thought nothing of it. The neighbors soon came out and after someone threw something at him, I called animal control. It turns out there weren't animal control at all, they were police officers and weren't supposed to release him back into the lake because of his size. Boy you must live in Fla. Here in S. Ga. we got some in the rivers here. Some people placed some in other peoples ponds when the gators were little. You must have an inlet around your apts.

I understand why they wanted to get it tied up and all but once that was gone they should have waited for the trapper to come and euthanize it instead of putting it back in our lake. It turns out that 3 days later he came back and was in the street this time. The trapper got him that time.
