Western mom vs. Chinese mom: Who is better?

http://www.nma.tv/ Author Amy Chua has created a stir with an article claiming "Chinese Mothers" are superior to western ones.
Chua extols the virtues of strict parenting. Her daughters were never allowed to play with friends, have sleepovers or watch TV.
She also boasted of how she coerced one of her daughters into mastering a difficult piece of music.
The article has provoked a fierce debate, with some praising the model of parenting Chua describes.
While others have labeled Chua a bully, suggesting that her children will grow up disturbed and rebellious.

American society hard to accept her.. we are society of accepting smoking pot , under age drinking , video games ...we got use to kids getting D and F , we don't value academic achievement as top priority we view sports figure and Rap music as the top priority .. discipline kids is against the law .. no one value the education system, beginning with republscum who rather given priority to tax cut to the rich then educating kids ** someday when your kids got into jail stop wonder why **

There is nothing wrong with being strict on your children, or teaching them to be a better person. But there is a problem with psychologically damaging them (Not allowing free though or friends) and living through them like Amy Chua is doing. She is hurting their kids and they may grow up to be suicidal or even criminals.

actually you can make a child "smarter than they were born to be" when I was young, I was actually pretty stupid and my mind was very closed, but, as I got older and read more books and grew up I was able to solve more complex math problems and figured out how to manipulate people to my advantage and because my siblings always gave me words of wisdom, my mind became very open. If you're idea of "you cannot make a child smarter than they were born to be" is not "a child born stupid stays stupid"

The only way for the poor to get out of China is to go to a nearby country to work and gain enough income to move to another country. I would know this because that's how my maternal grandfather, made enough money to allow my entire maternal family move to Australia. My paternal family, was a lot more poorer and because of that, lack the resources to go to other nearby countries to find work and gain enough income to move.

I'm not sure if you received my reply about the "china still lives in poverty", but I'm sending this in case. China's policies only favour the rich and not the poor. The rich's votes are of more value than the poor. That, combined with the fact that everything is state owned, is how and why the poor is still poor and how the government maintains its position in China.(cont to next reply)
