11-10-09 Badge Bowl rally at Kimbell Elementary

On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 0900 hrs Tampa Police and Fire Rescue units will be visiting Kimbell Elementary School, 8406 N 46 Street in North Tampa to hold a pep rally for one special kindergarten student, Avery Ralston.

For the past two years Avery has been battling Leukemia. Avery lives at home with his mother Ashley and his brothers Austin 8 years old and Andrew, 1. Grandmother Rachel Meeks also helps with the children. Averys Dad has passed away. Mom struggles with trying to raise the boys and meeting Averys medical needs. Although she wants to work she finds it impossible at this time. For their familys sacrifice in taking care of Avery, and for staying strong during his battle with cancer, 5-year-old Avery Ralston will be the honored guest at Badge Bowl VIII. Badge Bowl is an annual flag football game played between Tampa Police (Gladiators) and Tampa Fire (Firestorm). The pep rally is to show Avery and his family that Kimbell Elementary and the entire community are standing with them in their battle against cancer.

Badge Bowl is a flag football game to benefit the Foundation of Courage, a non-profit organization supporting children in the Bay Area with cancer. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be placed in a secured account to benefit a child from the Tampa Bay area that is fighting this life-threatening disease.

Badge Bowl VIII will be Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Wharton High School in the New Tampa area. Gates will open for games, food, and fun at 5:00 P.M. with game time kick-off about 7:00 P.M.
