The Grand Wizard who had a cash flow (storyline) problem sells the contract of one of his wrestlers to Captain Lou Albano. Let's just say that the wrestler that switches is not too happy.......enjoy!!

  • Actually Lou Albano managed 16 world tag champs.

  • Whole lot of great tag team wrestlers on this bout -- Dominic DeNucci held the WWF tag titles with Victor Rivera and Pat Barrett, Larry Zbyszko was Tony Garea's championship partner and Ivan Putski held the title with Tito Santana. Of course, the Samoans are in the WWE Hall of Fame and Pat Patterson had a great team with Ray Stevens in the AWA. Lou Albano managed 15 WWF tag champions!

  • I would watch Championship Wrestling (WWWF) from my home in Nashua NH on WMUR out of Manchester - Channel 9 I think. It came on at 10 or 11 Saturday mornings and repeated at night followed by The Philidelphia Warrior Roller Derby - You could get All Star Wrestling (WWWF also) out of Worcester, MA on Saturday afternoons. Wrestling shows were 1 hour - Hosted by Vince and sometimes a retired pro. . Roller Derby/Games was a two hour show. This is when house shows went all over NH MA and VT

  • In Boston, WWF wrestling in the late 1970's was seen on WLVI Chanel 56 Saturday mornings at 11 A.M.

It was the most popular Saturday-morning TV show in Boston at the time, absolutely killing network cartoon shows in the ratings.

In fact, I think it was WLVI's most popular program at the time.

  • DeNucci was the original trainer of Mick Foley

  • this fantasticlysupergreat

  • @1400deadwood Well, of course THEY were popular in San Francisco.

  • Man, Albano is hilarious. This is classic Albano. Thank you Lou.

  • Patterson was a face in San Francisco. Came into WWWF as a heel under the tutelage of the Exulted Grand Wizard of wrestling. I thought he & the Wiz worked well together.

  • It's interesting to compare how they put Patterson over as a face (Vince and Bruno saying "he's always a professional") to the way they put Randy Orton over as a face (Cole and Lawler saying they always had "respect" for him).
