This is from the rehearsals for the last complete opera Toscanini conducted, in January 1954, in Carnegie Hall. This was his last season with the NBC Symphony Orchestra; he conducted his last concert on April 4, 1954, and had his last recording sessions in June 1954. He never conducted again.
