Madam, if the Bureau were still doing this, the census workers would revolt! If you don't want to know accurate employment and health statistics for your district, go ahead, tell everyone to blow the census. But that's where all the federal surveys during the decade start--with a good, strong census count. Census employees take privacy very seriously, in part because they are personally accountable for protecting the privacy of the data provided. p.s. Census workers are your neighbors.

i am beginning to think that bachmann is a troll on a galactic level. i think she goes into the house and thinks to herself "i wonder what is the craziest thing that i can say to get me on youtube" that is the only logical explanation i can think of. but if in fact she does believe the things she says then Minnesota's 6th district must be made up of people who are dangerously insane

The census has happened every 10 years since 1790!! This is a scare tactic designed to make the sheep frightened out of thinking!

The main purposes of the census is to determine representation in the House of Reps, and to build a demographic for use by businesses.

When a major business wants to build the first thing they look at is the census demographic for the area.

A better question is why she REALLY wants to hold the numbers down. Toxic Waste? Hazardous Plant?

So with this said and this totally unecessary explanation cuz I know what the census is for...you are telling me that it cannot be prone to politics? or favortism?

If you wanted to track people for the ends of some devious means, then the census would be one of the WORST ways to do it.

You are photographed 100's of times per day. There are credit card, DMV, SSN, Tax Roles, etc that track you accurately.

Of course it is "Prone to Politics" It's purpose is to determine representation. The only Devious Politics is in trying to get you to NOT participate. There is a reason behind that, count on it.

Leon I appreaciate your well comments and that you are not like most people in here that love to start fighting, however I did work for a goverment gencu for 8 years and I know how well information gets mismanaged and I simply did not trusted the past administration and this new one either;

It's just a misplaced concern. Every day you are photographed by 100's of security, traffic, and private CC cameras, your use of credit cards, toll roads, ATM's, etc. can all be tracked.

If anyone wanted to "Find you" the census would be about 1000th on the list of tools.

However, if a business wants a demographic to move to an area, then it is number 1.
