On October 8, 2009, Urban Gateways partnered with Exelon to host an Imagination Salon event titled, Can Creativity Be Taught? at Rowe Clark Math & Science Academy in Chicago. Leaders in the fields of technology, education, business, and the arts came together for an in-depth panel discussion on the importance of creativity and innovation in the classroom and the role of arts education in the development of future workforce.

The moderator of the discussion was internationally renowned arts education scholar Eric Booth. Panelists included Barbara T. Bowman, M.A. (the Chief Officer of Early Childhood Education for Chicago Public Schools), Carol Forsyte (the Corporate Vice President for Laws and Securities for Motorola), and Mohanbir Sawhney (the McCormick Tribune Professor of Technology for the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University).
