I think this scene is very sad, makes me all teary eyed. Lu Bu returns to her by sheer will and adrenaline, to say his final goodbye. The moment that is fulfilled, his body fails... And once Diao Chan realizes what's going on, all she cares is that he is there, in her arms.
I think this is much more heart-wrenching and romantic than having his corpse delivered back to her, while she flails about cyring and yelling out his name. That would be too cliche...
