  • It's a good idea to have the pt remove earrings for this view. They show up on the image and could obscure the anatomy. Radiologist prefer not to see jewelry anyway.

  • Weights often may eliminate the requirement to shoot an additional swimmers view to image C7 vertabrae. It is important to have PT suspend weight hung from wrists (vice gripping in palms as incorrectly demonstrated here.) Grasping weights in palms (with clenched fists) tightens muscles and prevents shoulders from fully relaxing (lowering) to visualize C7.
