  • Did the trunk fold from just landing or was this a General with extra weight in the trunk?

  • @Ryoku75

I'm pretty sure there was extra weight. Notice how the front end was higher than the back when it landed.

  • Everyone keeps talking about how they were destroying 'classic' cars. Keep in mind that these chargers were only around 10 years old when they were filming the show

  • They must have used more than one general lee to make the series as they must have got a bit dented when coy and vance landed heavy.maybe they had a couple of them in case?

  • @marshalllucky - Coy and Vance are the first names that you think of...seriously?!? And they had around 300 or so General Lees

  • if you look close at :28, you can see the front grill bars immediatly fell off on the landing

  • @boofheadrules Yea, but remember this was in the late 70's early 80's when the Dodge Charger was nothing but a 10 year old sedan. That's like calling a '99 Dodge Intrepid a classic car. It's a shame that they continue wrecking them today at Dukesfest each year, but thankfully most all are restored afterwards.

  • I read an article in the "T.V. Guide" back then entitled "Are the thrills worth the kills" or something like that. Which explained that a few of the stunt drivers had been killed doing the jumps. So that's why I believe they started using toys. The recent movie shows real cars jumping but the car does not gave a driver. And the car has NOS and is on a track before it goes airborne for a "controlled jump".

  • @PaulIsDeadMissHim They also jumped it more than once and were not very consistant. I mean come on. this jump was only in season 3. They could've at least tried to make it look like it only took one try.

  • @PaulIsDeadMissHim I read they started using toy cars because they couldn't find enough 68-69 chargers in the mid-1980's.

  • I grew up in the south in the eighties and I hated this show after coy and vance showed up cause they treated the General like trash and it just wasnt the same without Beau and Luke I still remember seeing Daisy's Roadrunner go off the cliff! They also used 2 different RR's for her car if you watch the old episodes you can clearly see that at one point they were using an extremely rare 71 RR and then the next season it was a 73 or 74 and that is the car that goes off the cliff

  • sera que sia inteiro os dodges?

  • @Ryoku75 Loaded with 'Shine! YEEAHAWW

  • No they didn't they only used 1968 and 1969 dodge chargers

  • @PaulIsDeadMissHim No, they used a 66-67 Charger for that stunt. JK. It turned into one after that jump. Because a true fastback with the trunk bending like that.

  • This part of the episode was awesome when Bo and Luke jump the 32 cars in the General Lee that was cool Yee-Haw!!! :)

  • @jumpinggenerallee01 stop yelling at us!
