2011 Firestone Indy Lights Series race car driver Gustavo Yacamán and Boca Raton, FL natives Adam Ziegenfus and Eric Morkert compete (as the blue team) in the Florida Panthers 1st Period Intermission three man race, while wearing giant puck suits. The race is won half way through as the opposing team's lead runner stumbles and then gets repeatedly checked by both Ziegenfus and Morkert. With Yacamán finishing first Morkert trips over the last hurdle, visually inhibited by his "Green Man" suit, but the group takes home the checkered flag.
The video was shot on an Apple iPhone 4 by Ari Justin Rothenberg who was unable to compete do to knee surgery recovery. The video was editted by Rothenberg on Final Cut Pro 6 after the second title screen had been completed on Adobe Premiere and the PC kept crashing when trying to import the HD Quicktime iPhone movies.
The song "You're the Best" by Joe Esposito (that awesome montage song to which Daniel LaRusso fought in "The Karate Kid") was used to supplement the relay skills demonstrated. Initial thoughts of using the song from the opening scene of "Chariots of Fire" were shelved. Queen's "We Are The Champions" is copyright to the owner, who is dead, so I'm sure some litigious Freddie Mercury offspring will demand this video be removed. Too bad it wasn't written by Brian May cause that guy is probably stoned and starring at the stars but I regress.
