An Irish reel played on English concertina.

The triplets are played using three fingers 3-2-1 (where 1 is the index finger) because they are all preceded by the same note - i.e. the sequence of a quaver (eighth note) followed by a triplet is played with fingers 1-3-2-1.

Notes for the tune can be found here:

http://thesession.org/tunes/display/1303

though I learnt it from Dervish's Boys of Sligo recording (first tune).

  • In a word "WOW!" It's great.

  • Sounds great. *dances to music*

  • Good stuff! One of my favorite reels, for the moment anyway.

  • Now thats great playing!

  • Interested in your 3 finger triplet technique - must give it a try. Mever come across this before: always used the standard 2 finger method...

  • Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1920's trading cards of musical instruments, including the Concertina.

  • Incredibly fast, while retaining accuracy and tone - great stuff Danny

  • GOOD STUFF

  • very nice. Thanks for posting!

  • Great playing. It´s a Donegal tune and also works fine on the fiddle. I learned that from the recording 'Fiddlesticks' and Altan make too a fine version of it. Like the triplets & the explanation. :)

    All the best.
