After more than 45 years of a solid structure of 8 provinces, the countrys provincial administration map has been radically altered with the government announcing the creation of 22 sub-provinces. Internal Security minister George Saitoti announced the changes on Friday in what he termed as a move to improve service delivery to Kenyans. Proposals to split provinces were first mooted by the Party of National Unity PNU which had proposed that the provincial map be redrawn by curving out 19 regions out of the current 8 provinces. It is however not clear whether there is a link between the PNU proposal and todays move by the government that effectively splits the provinces.
Good work, this should align the provinces for better political and administrative expediency. However, it is the Districts that should be reduced all the way down, with functions clearly defined in each level in line with forthcoming proposals of the Constituency Boundaries Review Commission and proposals for devolution of power by Constitution Review Experts in the new constitution. Administrative (State) and political divisions should mirror each other as closely as possible, or be the same

God help us all. With these fools as our leaders, we are nothing but doomed. Anything and everything they do is for the next elections. Meanwhile Kenyans are still stuck in IDP camps and people are starving.
We must remove them all at once, without favor or failure.
