  • Yeah right..."no one knows how it got there" Guess you still believe in santa claus too.Fact is kids, the vase was stolen way back in the 19th century by British soldiers.I guess ever yone(almost) likes to believe in fairy tales. Its much easier than facing reality.

  • This vase in now copied by Chinese porcelain ateliers in Beijing and can be purchased in 5 qualities (from identical to a rough look-a-like). For a few hundred to 6 dollars.

  • In 2009, Christie’s sold a pair of 18th-century bronze animal heads sold for more than $50 million to a Chinese bidder. The bidder never paid and the sale was canceled.

  • The Mail on Sunday says the buyer is a Chinese billionaire who is a member of the Communist Party. His close ties to the government, which has been seeking to return what it calls “stolen treasures” of China, has led some to believe the government used the buyer as a front to sabotage the auction and prevent it from being sold. Items that fail to sell at auction or that become the focus of controversy can sometimes lose their value at future sales. The vase remains in storage until payment.

  • @dazimo Are you serious the deal never made? I always thought the bids are compulsory! Where is the vase today?

  • @wcrx2000 Yeah man, everybody's an asshole except for you.

  • I am pretty sure that this vase was never purchased from the original owner, it was a stolen treasure from the East, as of many treasure in the museum all over the west and in UK, they were not purchased, they was stolen from China, a bunch of thieves,

  • THE CHINESE BIDDER NEVER SHOWED UP TO COLLECT THE VASE!! HE NEVER PAID IT. The whole discussion is about air. It is complete nonsense. The transaction was never made.

  • @Satonamill He used that term, simply because it was the most expensive vase which ever came from Asia. Your critique was uncalled for. Also, "grouping Germans, Scotts, French, Spaniars and Brits" (with some other countries added) would make for Europe. You would also say that, if a Swiss knife sold for a few million, being more expensive than any other knife in Europe, it is the most expensive knife coming from Europe, wouldn't you?

  • I saw a lot of these vases on ebay that look similar to this that only cost like 100 pounds. Im thinking of investing in them.
