@tito8512 Are you forgetting the 50% devorce rate. It takes into account those who do not have a mother or father in the home full time.

@rocklovely47 I do agree with you that having a father and a mother is important for a child but 50% of families don't live with a single-parent, its actually at around 8% of households. I still believe that it has to do with poverty not a "certain group of people". I believe that drug abuse has a lot to do with the problems we have today.Certain groups that are more likely to be drug users are also part of the problem but this group is also less likely to end up in prison for some odd reason.

@tito8512 I agree with you. I think that illegitmate kids are the biggest problem. I've read that 50% of families consist of non traditional, single parent situations. They can say what they want, but having 2 parents who are dedicated to raising and educating their kids is essential for this country to prosper. This goes back to my comment that when certain groups make excuses for the behavior of their kids, it is detrimental for everyone.

@rocklovely47 For some odd reason,kids now want to be cool by the way they dress and act with their friends. Not caring is cool for them. Only if they knew that education in the real world is the coolest thing that they can do. Sometimes its hard for a kid to see that when there's so much negativity around him/she. I went to public school but I believed in myself and worked hard through college to get accepted into medical school. People need to wake up!!!

@tito8512 I was educated in Catholic school. Everyone wore a uniform, it was not a social club like public school. You were there to learn, not screw around or make fashion staments. It made everyone equal and sigle minded in their goal. I think this would make a great differnce. Of course, I'm a old fart, so maybe I just don't get it! I do get that kids today are not that bright. When you find one who is bright and polite they stick out like a sore thumb.

@tito8512 I agree, many folks use school as a day care, refuse to work with their kids, let the kids play games rather than study and then blame the schools. what does the government do in response to this...throw more money into the schools. It is really the parents responsiblity to ensure the proper education for their children. This is part my problem with illegals who come here and clog our schools. My kids asked to be taken out of public schools and did home schooling. Doing very well.

@rocklovely47 Education these days is like a daycare basically. Kids just go to school and come home and play ps3. People love defending teachers but to tell you the truth most teachers don't do as much as they should. Did you know that the U.S has dropped dramatically in k-12 but in higher education we rank the highest?.?.. why are we so great in higher education but miserable in k-12??

@tito8512 I will not refute you numbers, but remember that whites make up over 50% of the populations, followed by hispanics at 20% and blacks at 15%. You can do the relative math. I would agree that the percentages of those who do not raise thier kids correctly is about right, if subjective. We continue to dumb down our education to allow the uneducated to pass. Whites who dig the thug life and hip hop are called "wiggers" amd are among the least educated.

@rocklovely47 Many folks you know were poor but never resorted to crime,yea I know people like that too... Reality doesn't depend on what you have seen. Most hip hop and "thug life" fans are white,you didn't know that? They are the main consumers of hip hop sales. 38 % of welfare go to whites, you didn't know that either? so according to you 38% of whites fail to bring up their kids properly.and the majority of drug users also white by 38% followed by blacks at 30% then hispanics at 25%.
