Marie Hahnenberg, researcher for Stopp International, appears on ABC News Now for a discussion on Planned Parenthood's plan of sex education via trashy internet videos.
@1corinth1x20 I don't blame God for my crazy grandmother. I blame those who raised her to think that is what God is all about.....wrath and punishment! I've raised a contributing citizen as well. My daughter is studying to be a cardiac surgeon right now and will go on to save many lives with God's help. I just understand that children, especially adolescents, are fallible. I've seen kids from "good" families do bad things and vice versa. Your need for control comes from your lack of it.
@shellyk411 That sounds a lot like a representation of your grandmother not having any control, of herself or her children. FYI, I am a REAL man so I stuck around and decided raise MY children. I am raising my children to fear GOD and if I have to spank my child so he understands that inappropriate actions have painful reactions then who are you to say anything except thank you for raising a contributing citizen? Don't blame Jehovah for your crazy Grandmother, He still loves you more!
@1corinth1x20 Control your kids? What like chain them up in the basement? My grandmother thought a lot like you! She beat her children with soup cans and recited bible verses while doing so! She wouldn't let the girls wear skirts above their knees or pants! They weren't allowed to cut their hair or wear make-up. My aunt still got pregnant out of wedlock. That was a rude awakening for grandma. She took care of it though, she pushed her down the stairs and caused her to miscarry! She was bigger!
Teen pregnancy did not rise after the implementation of sex education! Teen pregnancy was rampant well before then. It was just kept quiet....girls either went to "stay with an aunt" in another state and gave their baby up for adoption, dropped out of school and married the boy before she started showing or went to back alley abortion clinics! Hello?!! If you look at public records kept during the colonial days, you'd see babies being born 6, 7, or 8 months after marriage! Puritans, my ass!
Wow, they really could have picked someone other than that girl. Every stereotype you can think of when it comes to conservative prolifers is projected by her. I'm liberal on this subject, and I know that there are more intelligent conservatives they could have picked to represent that side of the debate. Wow. What are the words come to mind? Prude. Out of touch ("they're not talking about sex, they're talking about school" is she fucking serious?), emotionally charged, almost yelling, etc.
@110452ND You got it dead on! why is this about the TEACHERS!? No one should talk to my kids except me! period. If this bearded pervert wants my kids to have an open discussion of sex he has to go through me. There is an answer. Control your kids. abstinence works if you have control of your kids. You are all fools, well we can't do anything about it, let them it do it! Stop them they are kids we are bigger and stronger and it is our responsibility to stop this!
This woman has no idea what she is talking about. Seriously. She isn't even able to stay on topic. What she is proposing has been in practice for the past 8 years. Guess what, it didn't work. I have had both comprehensive Sex Ed and Abstinence Education, and I can tell you that teaching Abstinence does NOT work in most cases. Kids just roll their eyes and ignore the teacher. This lady needs to wise up and look at the data and not base everything she is saying on her outdated social beliefs.
Why it is always about pregnancy? It's not a hillness, however HIV and AIDS are. So please stop saying teaching 13 years old kids about contraceptions and the using of condoms is pornography! Everybody have the right to know and choose!

I notice neither commentator brought up the issue of financial subsidies to unwed mothers, and how welfare reform might effect teen pregnancy rates.

"We need to be talking about the life of chastity."
Yeah, that's realistic.
