LISTEN VERY CLOSELY around 0:29 to 0:55

My D16Y7 is making a weird noise, that sounds like it is coming from the head. It only makes the noise at 2k rpm, no higher or lower, and only at idle. It does not make this noise when I'm actually driving. a lot of people have told me it's rod knock or piston slap but it doesn't sound like either. any help please!!

  • Adjust your god damn valves! I can't stand ignorant people. 10mm open end wrench, flat head no. 2, feeler shims, 0.006 always seem to have the best results on int and ex.

  • valve job

  • i had the same noise on my 97 civic lx and after seeing this i looked at my exhaust system and it was the exhaust pipe cover after the cat. Thanks for posting this

  • @EdeeC1 I haven't checked my headers. My sister had a 1991 Honda Civic with the D15B2 engine and the same thing occurred. I think this noise occurs with many 4 cylinder Honda engines.

  • @alterman156 have you checked your headers (exhaust manifold) for any cracks or leaks? same thing would happen to mine and that was the problem

  • @jorbeezy not gonna be rude dude, but if u were a lube tech how do u fuck up so hard that u think ur valves are bad rather then know its an exhaust bolt? your callin this guy an idiot nd shit, meanwhile u cant tell the difference from a noisy valve or a loose nut on an exhaust? embarrassing

  • I have the same thing with my 1998 Honda Civic DX 2 dr. hatchback in cold weather. Once the engine warms up the knocking noise goes away. I have used Marvel Mystery Oil and that has helped it to cut down on the noise.

  • if people still comment for this video. ahah they are stupid, they need to read your comment on them or otherwise delete this shit cause you know whats the problem is and you done fixed it so delete it.
