As an art piece, The H.E.Ai.D. or Human Energized Artificial Intelligence Device -- explores the nature of the emergent creativity that arises when humans collaborate with each other in spaces mediated through technology. As a technology, The H.E.Ai.D. pushes the boundaries of what is possible when we merge physical and digital realities. As an interactive installation, its a whole lot of fun to dance with lasers in a giant, collaborative musical device.
How does it work? A sophisticated computer vision systems track peoples movements from high overhead, and based on their collective movement responds with lasers, music and a video image.
The H.E.Ai.D. was created by the UberGeek Project, a collaborative group of artists, musicians, and engineers, and was originally funded by grants from Burning Man 2009 and Critical Massive 2009. This video shows the H.E.Ai.D. experience at the Winter Lights art show at the Vermillion art gallery and wine bar in Seattle.
