Thought I would watch this again as at the time no one gave Lloyd Honeyghan a chance but did he take his chance with style! One of the greatest British boxing performances abroad you will ever see.

This was such an upset, its still used as an example over here that's no such thing as a sure thing in boxing. Honeyghan wasn't given the respect he was due and time showed he was a very good fighter. To this day i respect him over not fighting Harold Volbrecht in South Africa due to the apartheid system. Good fighter, Currie was never the same after this bout.

Honeyghan beats Curry 9 of 10 times, Starling beats Honeyghan 9 out of 10 times and Curry beats Starling 9 out of 10 times. Styles make fights and Honeyghan was a strong, good puncher with either hand and most of all unorthodox. I don't Curry ever recovered from this loss.

You can say all the shit you like , Curry was the undisputed Welterweight World Champ and by many he was said to be the P4P best at the time and Lloyd took it to him and beat him thoroughly weight drained is not a good enough excuse almost all fighters who fight below Heavyweight are weight drained to a degree ITS NOT LIKE LLOYD FOUGHT HIM AT SOME CATCHWEIGHT like many fighters do today , They both had to make the same weight end of story one of the best wins by a British boxer ever

The aggressive Honeyghan really brought the fight to Curry on this particular night. Curry, the master craftsman and technician, was not used to a street fight. But all of U folks on here who are questioning Curry's caliber and status as a pure boxer obviously don't know much about him or, boxing at all, for that matter. Clearly, Curry was the much more technically sound and purer technical fighter; Honeyghan, obviously, had an aggressive style that worked in his favor

I saw Honey fight quite a few times in UK before this fight and he was good, no doubt about it. But this was his best performance by a mile. He always had skills and was difficult to fight against but on this night he seemed to have much more power in his shots than before. Great performance.
