Today this small NXP kit arrived. It took me some time to install and get running the Code-Red IDE which is sadly for Windows only, no Linux support planned. Well at least I got working the hello world of embedded world aka blinking LED :) I hope I'll have more time to play with it on the upcoming weekend.
The (left part) board seems to be only JTAG debugger which happens to program the part for debugging, so it's not programmer. It can be cut and detached from the target. The IDE requires registration where you must fill in personal data in order to download and activate to almost full power (at least for this small LPC1114 target). I don't like that, Atmel AVR/AVR32 IDE doesn't need any activation and registration can be skipped for example. But hey, the IDE is free (as in beer, it contains some closed source libs and whatnot). For 20€ you don't even get the USB cable, only board and piece of paper with link to NXP LPCxpresso site, heh. Well, one of the cheapest borads on the market so it's as bare as it can be.
