This is Max at school using the iPad during speech therapy. He's gotten really good at navigating the grids. The main challenge is that sometimes his nail hits the screen instead of the pad of his finger, and the touch-screen doesn't respond to nails. (You can hear this happening when he tries to clear the screen at the top.) I love how this app has encouraged him to use his pointer finger, as he wasn't using it all that much before.

  • Definitely not upside down, as there is a certain place where his thumbs fit.

  • Would an IPad keyguard be a help to Max?

If he is using Prologue2go all the time, I see it as a useful aid.

  • That isn't a silly question at all, I know that fingernails can impair the iPads response to touch. Max has gotten much more adept in the last year at using the pad of his finger on the iPad. It's very much encouraged him to isolate his pointer finger, one of the added bonuses of the iPad and this speech app!

  • Silly question: How short have you trimmed Maxes nails? Have you trimmed the nail on his pointer finger as short as you possibly can?

  • My 9 yr old son's speech pathologist recommended this at his IEP meeting tonight when I expressed my sadness at feeling like I miss the majority of what my son is trying to say to me. I am very excited about getting him an ipad and getting this app. I am so entirely grateful that there is something like this out there for us!

  • Good job, Max!

  • has he got his splints on upside down?

  • thanks Max. Watching this pushed us to get Ashley a laptop in school. Soon he'll have an ipad and then ... the sky's the limit!
