Tested out three different microphones in two different situations - stationary and at freeway speeds with window open.
Receiving radio in the first part of the video is a HR2600 project radio modified with a different mixing crystal to be used as a CB band receiver (freq shows 29.3650 but it's acutally 27.3650). Test was done on CB band not Amateur band :)
Radio in second part is a Grant LT.
Stock Uniden 4 pin microphone
DM-452 Power / Echo Microphone
Styker SR-65SB Noise Canceling microphone
Results from the testing:
The Stock Mic was very clear when stationary, but was very noisy at highway speed. It had less audio and drove the radio for less swing compared to the DM-452 or Stryker 65.
The DM-452 had more audio and got the highest peak numbers out of the radio, but it also picked up a lot of road noise.
The Stryker was was almost as loud as the power mic when testing with the mic gain at maximum. The Stryker 65 actually gave better average output numbers than the DM-452.
