Alex is still the best though :)

  • nope

it has a unique gear cuz the eletric engine has constant torque, it is always at his max efficiency, and dont need gears

  • tesla made the us and world ac power grid but took it one step further and made a wireless energy system, just check it out, look up wardenclyffe tower, even just click my name i show how it all works so we can all learn this forgotten science! thanks!!

  • Really, where the hell did you find info on that? I've never seen any (maybe I didn't look hard enough...)

  • if you add a tesla resonant antenna you can make an electric car have infinite milage too!!! i remade nikola teslas wireless energy system, you take energy and make it wireless which can be used for electric motors and run them forever as long as their is a wireless power transmitter! its really important technology and 100 yrs old now!

  • Transmissions get hot, right? That's not just because of the engine heat (in the case of an ic powerplant), but because of those gears. The original idea for the transmission was to have a gear for intersection drag racing, and another for a good top speed. Through design changes, the transmission was rendered obsolete. True, the reason the tranny was ditched was reliability, but in the end, it's better without it.

  • A multi speed gear box does not decrease efficiency. Tesla designed A 2 speed, but it kept breaking, research it. I agree electric motors are more efficient than combustion engines, but batteries as a power source are their downfall. I have an almost new cordless drill that cant even hold a charge overnight, power in nothing out.

  • Actually, it was unnecessary and reduced efficiency. Even if it was better to use a multi speed transmission, they could just pick and choose. Also, as unccharris stated some time ago, the tesla maintains very close to peak torque for 6000 rpm, which is greater than the ls7's actual rpm range. Gearing could compensate, but it just wouldn't be the same. One more thing, electric motors only pull as much current (equivalent to fuel flow) as they need. Simply more efficient.

  • I'm back sheik, and I know all about electric motors, turbine engines, rotary engines, radial engines, ect. A zo6 vette has over 500 hp and more torque than this Tesla, yet it still has six gears to make the best use of its power. Why does the Tesla have a one speed gear box? When they tried to design a two speed it kept breaking!
